Consultations
Frequently Asked Questions
-
They break down the traditional barriers that have existed between top interior designers and clients, eliminating the need for a high budget or a full-service requirement to gain access to personalized advice, guidance and support from an experienced designer.
-
Consultations take place on video calls. Prior to the scheduled consultation, you will receive a link via email to join the call. From there, you'll be able to show your space (via google screen-share or over video), ask questions and get feedback/advice. There is not a set structure for how you utilize your time; consultations are meant to be collaborative and tailored to your needs and taste.
-
They are for those who are seeking advice from an experienced designer. Whether you’re looking for an eye to help you conceptualize your space from scratch or seeking a second opinion to help guide your own efforts.
-
Preparation can be as minimal or thorough as a client feels is necessary to accomplish their goals from the consultation. Generally, we suggest putting together a simple document or presentation that includes photos of the spaces you need help with and questions you'd like answered. Some people also include inspiration images, furniture/decor being considered, or floor plans / drawings, etc.

Our clients are normally pleasantly surprised that they can get all their questions answered during a consultation and come away from it feeling enlightened, energized, confident in the next steps to take, and full of new ideas for their space. We design rooms every day so we're able to make quick decisions while taking into account your budget & style.

Consultations are based around video consultations, during which designers can offer guidance, support and advice to those who have some idea of what home-related questions they want to get answered, and are happy to ‘do the work’ themselves. While e-design can include a virtual meeting or consultation, it is normally geared towards a designer providing a specific set of deliverables, such as a precise mock-ups, room design or layout. We believe that our clients, many of whom enjoy the process of putting their spaces together, will derive more value from getting the hard questions answered by an experienced designer and then proceeding to execute that knowledge to achieve their design objectives.
-
Full-service interior design involves hiring an interior design firm, often requiring a significant budget, to fully design and execute your space. Consultations are a great way to receive guidance and help without the price tag of a design team handling every little detail for you. Consultations are better for clients that like to be very involved and hands on.

We encourage you to gather a list of questions and topics you wish to cover prior to your consultation so that you can maximize your time and get all the answers you need. Our clients are normally pleasantly surprised all that we can get through (bring a notebook!). If you have any follow up questions or run out of time, we encourage you to book another consultation!

Once you make a booking, you will have the option to upload materials, including images, presentations, floor plans etc. We use google meet for video consultations, which is accessible via your laptop, tablet, or mobile phone camera so you can show us around your space. You can also review additional imagery using googles screen share feature.
